Humanity in Action France

Humanity in Action France (HIA France) is the initiator of this learning partnership idea and the coordinating organisation. Since 2005, the organisation is active in minority rights education and diversity trainings for adults from France, Europe, and the USA. Our trainings are focused on working against prejudice and discrimination, in a historical, comparative and action-oriented perspective.
Participants to our summer trainings, half of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds, are supported in subsequently realizing local “action projects” concerning diversity issues and improving social cohesion in their immediate surroundings and communities. About 70 adult learners of past years have formed an alumni network, contribute to the curricula of trainings, and are active as mentors for new participants.

HIA FRANCE believes that an important test of a genuine democracy is how it treats its minorities, and that the commitment to the protection of minorities cannot be taken for granted in Europe. Since 2005, we have offered various adult education activities, engaging about 200 adults (most of them from Europe with very diverse backgrounds) in seminars, workshops, study trips, and community projects on diversity, social cohesion and active citizenship (addressing racial profiling, tackling anti-Muslim or anti-Roma sentiments, developing a dialogue on diversity issues, etc.) in France, Europe, and, more recently, the USA.

Kurt Lewin Foundation (Hungary)

Kurt Lewin Foundation is an independent civil public interest organization, which was established in 1995 in order to support the social inclusion of Roma and non-Roma people. We work on different fields – research, education, media, voluntarism – in order to develop democratic culture and social inclusion.
We have been running numerous adult learning programs focusing on social inclusion of Roma and non-Roma people. We started the first Roma website in Hungary (www.romapage.hu) in 1997, where we made available many adult learning materials in connection with Roma inclusion (e.g. Auxiliary material for the modern Roma ethnic studies for teachers, First Romani audio course book). Beside the e-learning projects we hold many trainings for the representatives of Roma NGOs, teachers in order to develop their cooperation and democratic culture in order to support roma and non-roma social inclusion. Since 2010 we hold adult learning trainings for active citizens who are willing to realize voluntary initiatives involving Roma and non-Roma people and communicate them with the tools of citizens' media. We ensure professional support for them on the fields of project management, voluntary management, cooperation, communication and the use of citizens' media. The videos made by some of our adult students about the voluntary actions realized by them are available here: www.100legszegenyebb.hu/video.
We focus on involving Roma and non-Roma trainees in our work on regular basis, and we run programs in disadvantaged regions and communities in order to support Roma and non-Roma social inclusion in wide fields.
